Duenvyn is one of the oldest gods in existence. As an Elemental, not one who understands humanity or its like, he tends to be dispassionate towards the needs of those who are non-god. The Council of Gods has frequently had to wait on Duenvyn’s vote or thoughts regarding matters of the Council, as he tends to take his time.
His connection with the Realm of Ice, being that he is an Ice Elemental, has given him an edge when it comes to exploring and understanding the “Izozt”, the true name of the Realm. He has absolute control over every aspect of his domain. While all gods can sense the usage of it and even that there may be Realm-travelers through their domain, he can feel exactly where they are at all times.
He predates the “Tilt”, and while he gets along with him, Duenvyn feels that he has more authority in the long run. He has safeguarded the secrets of everyone, most importantly, other gods. And with this information, he has remained untouched and undisturbed by other Gods conflicts.
As with his nature, no one knows how or why he became Lord of the Vault. And he is not telling.
Duenvyn’s temples are few and rare. Locked away in areas that are kept secret and difficult to get to, they use this discretion and secrecy as a means of protection. Each location is guarded by an Ice Fury and it is fervent in its role as protector. Duenvyn does not like nor appreciate sculptures, idols or individual areas of worship. It is discouraged by the church to have any such place.
The church of Duenvyn is the antithesis to the Church of Ivrix. They revel in the secrets of others and institutions and keep them even upon death. They tend to be emotionless or not care about the wants and needs of others.
Your service to the Lord of Ice is to be kept discreet, secretive. Only when it is absolutely necessary should you disclose your identity.
Those that do, eventually become “Mahejit”. The casters of the order, they are the ones who receive the secrets to be kept.
The “Skriven” are the weapons of the church. They seek out those who pursue the information that the church has promised to keep a secret and eliminate the threat.
Duenvyn and his clergy tend to favor a single mountain with a glacier running in front it. Some believe this is a subtle hint that his temples and information vaults are within mountain ranges although this information has never been confirmed.
It has also been documented that they like symbols within an encapsulation of ice of all different shapes.
As expected, all the churches colors are various hues of blue and white. It is believed that the deeper blue or unblemished white notify a higher rank or a place of importance.
While the entire church is designated to keeping secrets, their actual Triumvirate are well known throughout the Realms. Their churches functions, and monetary income, is based on their names and business practices being available to the individuals who may seek their services.
The location of the Anchor of Izozt is the most highly prized piece of information that the church has. They will utterly destroy and eliminate anyone seeking to find it's location or anyone who happens to actually find or stumble upon it.
Like everything with the church, the rumors about what guards it ranges from twenty ice elementals to an Ice Dragon named "Emqian". Many scholars, who are attempting to ascertain every Anchor, believe that due to the name of the dragon being revealed and that several Scry attempts have found the name to be true and belong to a dragon, the rumors must be true.
But even with all of the information acquired over millenia, the actual location has never been discovered.
Individuals seek the church to use as a confessional of sorts, knowing the church will never reveal what it has heard or received. The church has learned that individuals will pay greatly to ensure their secrets remain hidden whether that is words or monetary items. They also know that these secrets can be kept even after their death.
Many within the world, have attempted to plunder Temples of Duenvyn in hopes that their vaults would hold gold, documents and items of the wealthy, especially kings and leaders of the world. No one is sure if anyone has ever succeeded, as the Church would never allow that information to be made public. To this day, no group or individual has made this claim against the Vault's holdings.
Many scholars have asked themselves “Why would individuals pay the Church of Duenvyn to hold secrets that they can just take with them to the grave?” The answer is simple. Once the Church has taken charge of the secret, they will protect it with their lives. So by giving it over to the Church, they know that if any entity or institution attempts to garner that secret, that they will be met with force and eradicated. The Church does not deal with negotiations. You are given one warning. To stop. If that warning is not heeded, than the next and only step is to be met with death. The same can be concluded with items as well.
The Church does not sift through whose information or items they will take. Anyone is accepted and for any reason. Neutrality is there motto.
When you make a pact with the Lord of the Vault, you can never go back on it. Once you have told a Mahejit your secret, and the pact is sealed, even you may not speak of it again, to anyone. You are to forget it exists.
